Pampers reduce Nappies in Packs?

I recently bought a few packs of Pampers size 2 newborn which contains 36 nappies. This was purchased from various sources (Supadrug, Morrisons).

This week I visited an Asda in a different region and notice that they are selling size 2 newborn in packs of 35.

What's going on here? Do pampers sell different sized packs to Asda or are they penny pinching and reducing the size of packs by one nappy?

I mailed Pampers CS asking those exact questions and I got back a nonsense reply:

"We are sorry you are disappointed with our product. Please send me your name and address and I'll send you some vouchers"

Hmm. I guess they didn't even bother to read my message properly

I find a thread here:

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=498667

Which states that Lloyds are offloading old stocks of Pampers because new packaging is being brought in.

So I guess Pampers are penny pinching. Reducing the size of packs by one to increase their bottom line :D

Anyone else notice the 35/36 changes? Is it just for this range or are the other ranges changing too?

Funny you should say that. My wife and I bought some from Mr T's last night and noticed we were "one nappy short of a full one"! Also, although size 2, the nappies looked smaller when compared with the older ones, but we put this down to the new fit.

Go to the uk site here:

    http://www.pampers.co.uk

In the bottom right click on

    contact us

near the top of the page is the link for

    email us

I would post the direct link here but it is huge and won't fit.

As the product is damaged they may ask you to send it back so expect double vouchers!

moomiman. Does the pack say 35 or 36?

I checked a few more places and they are all stating 36 on the pack. Just wondering if Pampers make special packs for Asda. Retail them with one less item so that Asda can claim to be 'the cheapest'.

I bought a pack the begining of the week from tesco with 36 in yesterday I bought another pack from tescos and it has 35 in the pack the newer pack is the new design with stretchy waist it says so they try improve the nappy but at the same time give us less nappies to pay for it I know its only 1 but with the ammount a newborn goes through thats at least 2 nappies less a week. then when you get up to the bigger sizes I am guessing they will do the same so over a year possible an extra few pack that we will have to buy.
Think they reduce the pack size just by one nappy cuz they think you wont notice!

they are indeed different sized packs for different supermarkets, all to do with price negotiation and pallet sizes. i work for the company that makes them, same site but different product line, bounty used to be the same until we unified some of the sizes, tesco did people cause they only bought 45 sheet count, everybody else had 56, now everyone gets 50 or 75.

Definitely said 35, because we noticed the one missing before we took the nappies from the shelf. We had some Pampers vouchers, which meant that we didn't opt for a same-priced alternative brand in protest, but all the same they're still concealing the fact that they're diddling us out of a nappy!
  • This sort of thing has been going on for years. Companies re-design the packaging and the sizes reduce but the price doesn't. It happens with sanitary towels and Strepsils I've noticed recently.

A few years ago areosol deodorants were big then they got reduced in size, now you have a choice of big and small but the small are the same price the big ones were. I could go on...
