My postie told me these fake barcodes can lead to the destruction of the parcel so do check with RM before you use them.

Personally I dislike them a lot, they scream 'I don't trust you'.

I did wonder about their legality...

We've sent over 30,000 parcels with these on, Royal Mail don't like them because they are losing out on over a quid for the random chance of getting a signature.

As for "I don't trust you", do you feel that way shopping in the supermarket? All those CCTV cameras, the security guards, the tags on high risk products?

Can't see my Postie being bothered whether RM lose anything as he bloody hates them :D This was a couple of years ago he told me this when he gave me a parcel that had a fake 'Tracked' label on. Can't recall the exact conversation but I think he said something about it slowing down their systems.

And no, I don't feel the same way in the supermarkets because the CCTV is trained on everyone as a whole and not singling out one person. If the security guard started to follow me personally then yes, I'd feel the same in that instance.

But if i used these labels, i'd be using them on ALL my packages....i wouldn't be "singling anyone out"!

Yes, you put them on all your parcels but your buyer isn't to know that. You'd wonder what it was about your account that singled you out as not to be trusted.
As far as your buyer knows you have made a judgement on them based on their username/feedback/area they live etc.

But why would they think you "don't trust them"?
If i received a package with one on, i would think that's just how the Seller sends their packages out.......i wouldn't bat an eyelid to be honest.
I think you're reading too much into this.

Maybe so but we are not all the same.
  • Isn't it the same as sending everything by recorded delivery ? Would you feel the seller didn't trust you if they used this service ?

The items I've had sent with fake stickers were items that cost pennies. Recorded items are generally worth a lot more so its sensible to send recorded for higher value items.
  • The problem is that even an INR for something that costs pennies will result in a defect. In my case, it's not about the money I have to refund, it's about the defect.
