Make sure you have plenty of needles. She will also need different needles for different fabrics and do buy good quality steel pins. Do tell her to keep her fingers well away from the needle when machining. I have machined through, yes through my finger on 3 occasions and I was a professional! When I learned to use an electric sewing machine at school 55 years ago we started by sewing down the lines on lined paper without any cotton, once we could sew straight we were allowed to use fabric and cotton.0
