Club 55 also a Scotrail offer but has different conditions. As well as other days in the week it is valid for Friday travel anywhere in Scotland return for (currently) £19 or so and includes Carlisle and N Berwick. Limitation at peak times around Glasgow and Edinburgh and ( I think) not valid for East Coast Trains full info at http://www.scotrail.co.uk/club-55.

..not lot of use for your journey to Manchester though!

Abellio, owned by Dutch National Railways is to take over Scotrail from First Group from the start of next April. Abellio intend to change Club 55 to Club 50 therefore reducing the age requirement.
