I use a brand called ambiance, you apply it with a built in brush.
  • I totally agree with the Lush suggestions. Lovely smell, works very well - my fringe gets greasy before anywhere else. Plus the bottle lasts for ages.

I know Lush do one called no drought which contains cornstarch which is about £4. There are quite a few DIY videos on youtube even for those with dark hair.

I have the lush one, about £4 for a small bottle but so far I use it about four days a week, had it about three months and it's only a third of the way through. I have dark auburn hair (think Jean Grey from X-Men) and you can't notice it being powdery like batiste was. Smells nice too, like lemon and lime :)

I shall have to visit Lush on the weekend then, thanks both!

  • jenniewb - it's only my fringe I'm bothered about, the rest of my hair is tied back in bun in work anyway. It just goes flat and a bit manky after the gym. If we had a hair dryer or hand dryer I could blast it into shape but sadly not! (The joys of working in a male prison!)

    Nilaqua?

Bought some for someone who was in and out of hospital. It seemed to work ok.

Sadly this is a wet one not dry. But thanks for suggesting.

This looks great, apart from the price!! I will try the Lush one first, and if no good I'll get this one.

Thanks all for your help :)

    Ah that sounds really annoying!

I'd still try a dry shampoo but maybe try it differently: spray onto your finger tips and then root your fingers through your fringe- there shouldn't be any white residue unless the product isn't working properly- the idea with dry shampoos is to spray at your roots and then straight away (or within seconds) massage it into your scalp and then brush out. The latter works best with a really heavy going boar bristle type shampoo (you can get nylon versions too) Boots and Superdrug sell these, they get rid of the excess product and any oily residue which will have mixed with the product.

    Otherwise clips and hair bands.

It's wet in the same way that hand-sanitiser is: the liquid element evaporates in less than a minute.

Ooh, I didn't know lush did one, I have the same problem with just my fringe, but easier for me because I can just wash my fringe and let it air dry.
