Don't want to quote but those flowers are stunning:)

TM, Thank you for not quoting xxx. DH took that pic at the Gardens of Heligan when we went to Cornwall recently. I think they're called Globe Thistles.

It's starting to get chilly, so I'll just mention the following in case it's of any help to anyone.

I live in an old draughty house, and at certain times, especially in spring and autumn, I'll just put a heater on in the lounge rather than put the full heating system on. I used to have a1200/ 2400w fan heater, then I went down to 1000/ 2000w, then more latterly a 900/ 1800 w (I had to search quite hard for that one).

At the end of last winter I came across a ceramic heater reduced in Aldi to half price - about 9 pounds - with 400/800/1200w settings, so I thought I'd get one and give it a go.

Oh wow! It's extremely effective and I rarely put it on at more then one bar / 400 w. If it's really cold then I occasionally put it on two bars/ 800w, but I never leave on that for long at all, I just can't bear it! Really good and very energy saving - I can recommend it. The only downside is that I need to stop the dogs frying their noses, they love to snuggle close given half a chance. :)
    Hope is not a strategy.

Can tell the Autumn is fast approaching as I have decided it's time to sort the reading matter out:)got a nice pile of good books I have collected over the Summer as don't really read a lot then. Also been checking out how much tinned soup I have collected as fillers over the months;)and was surprised how much I had and they are always a useful standby.

Night night off to make a start on my first book tonight.

My favourite flower is the agapanthus.....always reminds me of a seaside cottage in Cornwall we used to visit. Never had much luck growing them though:o
