I know you've had a few answers so hope I'm not repeating. You don't need any dd or anything for it to switch but like emerald said, it does need to be active. It wouldn't hurt to have a dd set up and have an so added to cover it. Does seem a bit daft to me but I checked their conditions carefully as I didn't want to change my full account as it's quite good really.
