Don't forget if you do wash it in the bath you then have a very heavy sopping wet rug to lug through the house, leaving a trail of water behind you before you can get it in the garden to dry. Found this out the hard way when I wash the dog's bean bag bed in the bath! Next time it needed washing I hosed it down in the garden, much less mess.0

I would be paranoid about it possibly having creepy-crawlies in it. You don't want an infestation
I wonder if it is possible to steam clean it, or would the heat damage the wool?
:eek:Steam will shrink wool so avoid using it on wool rugsBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

And bio washing liquid will partially digest the wool. Don't use bio on wool0

Actually, gentle steam with no agitation shouldn't shrink wool. It's agitation and thermal shock that cause shrinkage & felting. As long as you are very gentle & don't rub, steaming should be safe, and I have done it several times on rugs that I have then sold on, with no ill-effects.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
