Is there a central registry for property deeds?

Thank you Land Registry person, a great definitive answer.
When I worked at a big lender I used to love looking at old Title Deeds. I'll have to keep a look out at boot fairs, as it'd be nice to have an old Deed or two for myself.
My house is only 25 years old, and we are the only occupants since new, so our Deeds aren't that interesting!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Your property as bought 18 years ago and mortgaged would be registered. If the property was first registered as a result of your purchase then the original deeds would have been lodged with us to create an electronic register (record of ownership) and the original deeds returned to the applicant, your solicitor. In most cases those original deeds are then held by the lender as traditionally they would see that as additional security around their mortgage.
.
Thanks, fine reply, I wondered where you were?
The only thing to add to that is that my home was not mortgaged by me, I bought it outright as a project.
And thinking about it neither was the other property, my father bought that outright back in 1970.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Have you checked at the LR to see if the properties are registered?0

I know what you mean about the deeds, I did fully read ours and I think I even copied them, must search the copy out.
What I remember was that the house was built for the school headmistress in 1935, I forget the cost, and was at the time a stand alone bungalow. Houses were built up the hill and down the hill since.
Now get this, my first home was a mid terraced property in an ex-mining village. I sold it for £10800 in 1983.
It was originally built in 1875 at a cost of, ready,£246.00
It was actually a few coppers more, I don't recall, but the deeds even showed a breakdown of the building costs, very interestingI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I haven't yet, but I know the 2nd 1 isn't and given the info in the post above, I don't think my home will be either.
I'm going to check out the address given to me since I first posted, It should be the current address of the company that took over from the firm I used.
The 2nd lot of deeds were returned to the solicitors after probate last year, I know were they are.
What's the cost of registering these assuming I DIY?I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

You can search for free -

You only pay if you want a copy of the deeds.
The price of voluntary first registration is lower than compulsory ones - the actual figure depends on the value of your house.

There are some copy-cat sites so make sure you use the gov.uk one.0 -
If you bought it 18 years ago so circs 1996 then it should be registered as all of England & Wales was 'compulsorily registerable' (CR) from 1990 onwards.
You can check what dates for CR applied for which areas of England & Wales in section 8 of our online guidance
If the purchase pre-dates the CR date as listed for the area then unless you have mortgaged since it should not be registered. The guidance gives you a 'feel' for how registration has to some extent spread across E&W over the decades
And apologies for thinking you had a mortgage on your property - I must have misread an earlier post“Official Company Representative

Sorry, we do not have a record of any titles for this property. This does not necessarily mean that the property is unregistered.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

First property - registered and you can view the register/title plan online for £3 each if you want or need to
The price you paid will not be shown as the registration pre-dates the year that this was reintroduced
Second property - suggests the property is unregistered as no information available online. Check the link I gave you in the earlier post to match date of purchase with the CR date as listed for that area“Official Company Representative
