Rented Accommodation advice and Is there life after going bankrupt

Just posting another thread as have a couple more queries re going bankrupt. I live in rented accommodation but the tenancy is in my husbands name only, although I am on the council tax bill. Would the letting agent still be notified if I go bankrupt as I'm not on the tenancy agreement? Also is there life after bankruptcy? I'm reading mixed reviews as some people say it's hard but worth it and others say you you seem to suffer for ever more after. And sorry one more question, can you start trying to repair your credit file after discharge or do you have to wait 6 years?

You aren't on the tenancy so your landlord won't be notified.

The sooner you start to repair your credit file the sooner it'll be excellent again. You would start by getting a sub-prime credit card as soon as you are discharged with an extortionate interest rate and spend something on it each month and pay it off in full. Eventually you can get better 0% on purchases credit cards and then if save every penny you can then you can get yourself a mortgage in a few years with no interest rate penalty.

We went BR in April 2013 due to debt n negative equity in our home we moved into rented accommodation in feb 2013 n told landlord out situation and they were fine just wanted a guarentior now in September this year 5 months after discharge we own our own 4 bed home which we got on a deal called geni from our local council :-) things happen for a reason n it was hard for a few months but we have a credit card each now n just use it to rebuild our crefit

There is definitely life after BR. There are some inconveniences that crop up but with foresight and planning these are easily handled. Wishing you all the best.

You have been given a 'fresh start'....

There may be minor inconveniences as a result, but, ultimately,you have been given the chance to move out of the position you were in originally.

That has to be a positive move,eh?

Take the chance now to re-evaluate your life, and aims in life....now you no longer have the debt millstone hanging around your neck?

Time to reject the influences that so interfered with your life pre-BR?

Even allow yourself a little smugness,eh?
