Yo dudes
As the title suggests, I'm working away from home mon-fri for the next three weeks.... I need to feed myself in the evenings to keep the cost down...but I only have access to a fridge. No kettle, no micro. Suggestions or ideas? Beyond wraps or sandwiches I'm stuck.

Pasta, rice or lentil salad (perhaps take inspiration from the pre-packs they do at M&S)
Quiche with green salad
tapas type meal--slice smoked sausage or other cold meats, olives, cheese, bread etc.

Can you get yourself a kettle? Even a travel one would mean you could have so much more.
Are you near shops? Can you have a 'proper' meal at lunchtime?
Not much help I'm afraid, pre-made salads, ready pasta/rice dishes, sushi, fruit and cut veg (ie carrots, peppers).
Beyond that I would have Doritos and chocolate! Good luck.0 -
I'll be having a cooked lunch, so that won't be too bad.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0

Large pot of yogurt, bag of nuts and dried fruits, decent quality granola, a bowl of this should keep you fed at night unless you are doing hard physical work.
Remember to take bowl plate and cutlery with you, a Swiss Army knife is very useful. And a mug.
I agree with above post re. Travel kettle, they are quite cheap and open up possibilities, you can even boil an egg in it.Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

I'd get a kettle ... £10 from supermarket basics.
Get a loaf of bread and some sandwich fillers from supermarkets, or jars of it, or make your own. Tins of pineapple, with a ringpull. You can make or buy flapjack/similar bars. Gotta chuck some crisps in there too
Fruit keeps - so go down the supermarket and get some easy stuff - bananas, grapes, apples, plums. Nothing messy or complex.
Cereal/milk is good too.0 -
Hi
Bean salads:
Open and drain tin of beans and rinse.
Buy and onion and remove a few layers. Chop finely
Open a small tin of fish - sardines, mackerel or tuna in oil.
Either mix together with mayo or use some of the oil from the tin and lemon from a squeezy lemon to dress it. Mix and eat.
Works with mixed beans, pinto, chickpeas and even kidney beans if you like them.
By peeling layers from the onion it keeps longer and smells less.
You can do the same with no fish but add chunks of tomato and olives.
Banana and tinned custard.
Bananas instant whip dessert (chocolate is nicest).
Tapas - salami (Lidl), halved tomato, olives, avocado, nice bread, salad leaves if you want.
Tortilla chips with different dips (hummus, tapenade, tsatsiki, cream cheese).
A hot chicken quarter from the roasting section with salad.
If you can get a kettle
cuppa soup and sandwich
A hot bought pie with mash (instant with dried or whole milk and marg or butter)
Hot dogs (drain, wrap the tin in a kitchen towel and pour in boiling water) in buns with mustard and salads
You can do the same with tinned potatoes, leave them to get almost cool and then make into a decent chunky potato salad mayo and vinegrette plus chopped hotdog. onion, tomato etc.
Get one of those flat takeaway plastic cartons add a pack of cheap noodles, pour over boiling water and leave 3 minutes, stir. When done (try one, drain and add, cream cheese or pesto or half a cuppa soup made up with half the normal amount of water (mushroom and chicken are nice). Add marg or butter to increase the calories. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
