CD and DVD recycling

Dear all,

I'm doing a bit of a clean out of my study and have come across a stack of old CDs and DVDs (total of 154). I'd rather know throw them into landfill waste, any ideas of a free way to recycle them? As well as paper/plastic banks do they also have any CD/DVD appropriate ones?

Also, I suspect I'll soon stumble across a collosal stash of video tapes (VHS) - all for discarding - any ideas?

Depends what's on them, surely? I needed a couple the other day to use in the garden as bird scarers and managed to find a couple of old magazine cover giveaways.. - not a lot of use to anyone. I wouldn't have used an old back-up disc though.:-)

They're mostly storage DVDs with documents and photos on them. Not so personal that i want them destroyed.

Freecycle it then - someone might have usage for the cases and CD's as decoration
