Backing up a Ps3 12gb-will a pen drive do?

Hi all
Calling on you knowledgeable lot again - I need to back up data from my ps3 12gb in order to reinstal into a much bigger 2.5" drive I plan to instal.

Will the PS3 identify a 16GB pen drive to transfer my flash drive data to?
Also assuming this is possible, how easy is it to transfer data back onto the newly installed bigger drive from the USB pen drive please?

Dont know but I think you can view pictures from a thumb drive

Yeah it should be fine. There is always an element of something could go wrong but it shouldn't.
