  • Eaten pasta as planned today, also managed to portion it so there is a small portion leftover which I can have for lunch tomorrow.

Homemade cheesy jacket potato halves taken out of freezer for tomorrow as per meal plan. These will be eaten with leftover lettuce, cucumber and tomato in fridge.

    Also:
Texted someone I know who is moving house and offered 5 empty boxes we have.
Taking some photos to give to dad who is visiting his very elderly mum tomorrow.
Found out some pine ones, yoghurt pots and a some bird seed for my sons teacher.
None of this is moneysaving, but it's decluttering, helping others and not spending too!

Off out to find our my role volunteering at a charity run tonight.
Another NSD and hopefully a free brew too :-)

Love your idea of listing everything foodwise you have in freezers, fridge, cupboards etc with a view to using some of it up before Christmas. I think I need to do something similar - though I listed my fridge contents for another thread last night and the list was huge
  • My freezer list was rather embarrassing to be honest!

I have evening meals sorted for a while that's for sure!
It does feel good to know exactly what we have and what needs using first though. Looking forward to listing the other things too so I can make sure we have enough of what we need and don't buy things we have already.

Really want to up our savings too.

  • Morning all,

Today's task (as per my master list a few posts back) is to list all my toiletries & medicines. I do try and keep a spare of each in as we live in a village so it's cheaper to buy an extra on offer.

Once I have written a list of what we have I will know what not to buy, what we need to go on the shopping list. If the children need anything I can buy them as stocking fillers.

So I will report back later once I've completed today's task.

    Listing:
    Toiletries in bathroom
    Medicines & vitamins
My beauty type products in bedroom
    Loo rolls/handwash etc

    Speak later

  • Right list now done. All I needed to add to my payday shopping list is conditioner, a tube of toothpaste and deodorant for my husband.

Surprised at how much body lotion, bubble bath and shower gel I have. I must make an effort to use these things up, starting with the masses of small gift set bottles I have to reduce the clutter.

Feels so good to know exactly what I have - there is definitely no need for shopping for this kind of stuff for a while!

Also sorted out our vitamins and will start taking them again tomorrow.

    All round worth doing!

  • Just listed 6 items on ebay!

Will try and find 4 more to list be the end of the day.

Not convinced any will sell but keeping my fingers crossed anyway! X

  • Eek!

    My efforts are proving worthwhile!

Had an enquiry about an item listed on Gumtree for £10 saying they wanted to arrange to collect it - let's hope it all works out.

Sold an item on the Facebook selling site for £8.

Sold some gift wrap items to my mum for £3.20 (all the change she had!).

Also have watchers on items on ebay already :-)

All cash received will go into the sealed tin.

  • Morning,

Facebook sale was collected this morning, so the £8 went into the sealed tin.

Gumtree sale should be collected tomorrow, bringing another £10.

I was up late last night making a few craft items for a local sale on Friday. These are now finished so we will see if they bring any £s in or not.

We have finally sorted out our bt line and now have a bt vision box. This means we don't have to fork out for a box and also means I have now been able to cancel our existing sky subscription.

Today's task as part of my November challenge is to write a list of all the cleaning products I have. I will do this, this afternoon.

Still eating from the meal plan which is working very well. I'm going to do the essentials food shop tomorrow and see how much of the £28.55 I can save! Then attempt to spend nothing until the following Friday!

Ebay watchers are going up, but no bids yet.

Off to take daughter to nursery whilst I go to work at lunch.

    Speak soon

  • So today started with a flat tyre and a frantic call to my mum to help me get my son to school.

This now means that I am unable to go food shopping.

This therefore means that I am having an enforced NSD!

Decided I needed something sweet and without a car and not wanting to spend over an hour to get to the overpriced village shop and back I have now baked three cakes!
Using up my stores and some yummy cake for my sweet tooth. One of them will go in the freezer for the next rainy day too!

Will spend the rest of the day pottering around :-)

  • Food from meal plan for tea tonight.

Gumtree guy showed up and collected item so another £10 in tin! Hurray!

Craft sale tonight so I will report back if anything sells. I didn't put much in, just a few bags of snowman soup and some tree ornaments so if things do sell it won't be much but still a bit more to feed the tin.

We have been looking into the flat tyre problem with the 2nd car we bought. It was the side wall of the tyre wearing that caused the flat so we are unable to repair it :-(. We knew that the car was cheap as it had a hard life so we are looking at replacing the two front tyres, replacing the two front brake pads (advisory on last MOT) and getting a service done. Hopefully this will make it a bit safer for the winter and keep it ticking along.

Brake pads will be about £80, two tyres will be £100 plus the service will be around £100-£120 I think. So I need to see how much we have saved in our car repairs and service pots. Hopefully we will just be able to cover it.

The car is worth around £2500 and we paid £1500 for it from a friend and they were quite honest that it may have low miles 29k but it was worked hard, driven down tracks and over potholes and needs some care and attention.

Anyway, now to light the fire and chill out :-)
