frustration!!!

Isnt it just so frustrating....... being in debt. Have now got v. little compared to many people. I keep reminding myself that it wasnt forever ago that I had £5,000 plus of debt and I'm now down to about £1,000 and it will be gone defo this year - but its still very frustrating. Probably in that I havent been out going wild with chequebook - well I dont think so anyway! My debt is basically down to having an old house that needed a lot doing when I bought it - and then having a paycut subsequently (rather than the payrise I anticipated) - dont think I'd be nearly so frustrated about it if it was due to me going mad with money. I know I'm clearing at least a bit of it each month - but on the low salary I am on - I can't look to clear much even in the best of months. I've done plenty of overtime beforehand - but thats not possible now (for which I am secretly thankful - as I cant stand my job). I do do any bits of casual work I can get at a reasonable rate of pay - ie better than the dayjob - but they're not that frequent. Basically - there are opportunities available for other casual work - but only on NMW (not worth giving up precious free time for only - at a guesstimate - about £4 per hour net - particularly when you have problems finding enough energy anyway).

Sorry - just a bit of a rant I guess - getting it off my chest. Does anyone else get frustrated at just how long it takes to clear even a small-ish amount of debt if one is on a low salary? All (constructive) suggestions welcome!

I dont have anything overly constructive to say apart from to say - your end is nigh, and be grateful for that! As it could have been more and you could have felt like you do for longer :)

If you are in london, theres a ( above board) opportunity - I know my employer is looking for extra people.

    Hi

have a look at Chevalier's posts on mystery shopping and survey web-site. Only a few quid but..

Also NMW should be nearer £6, are you too young for the full amount?

    Thanks for replies

Lynzpower - Thanks v. much. 'Fraid I'm nowhere near London though!

RAS - well old enough for full NMW - but I was referring to the net NMW - as I've already used up my personal allowance on the dayjob - so would lose about 30% approx I'm guessing of anything extra I earn - hence my guesstimate of NMW extra earnings only being about £4 per hour. Lovely - give up 3 hours say and get about £12 in my hand! What odds and sods of casual work I've got are basically £12 per hour and self-employed rate of tax (in other words - a good deal better pay than my low-paid dayjob) - so its worth flogging myself up into trying to have enough energy for them just about - but cant really find any more of them, as supply is rather limited.
