Whilst instore at Asda today I noticed thye had reduced the cost of the Durabrand breadmaker to £11.99 from £29.99, the one they had on display was of very good quality, So I bought one, its currently making a loaf now. To say I am amazed at the quality and ease of use for £11.99 would be an understatement, you cant go wrong. Its white, digital touch control and even makes dough for pizas, bakes cakes etc. even upto a 2lb loaf.
My mum works on Asda CS desk and when I told her about the price she went out and bought one as she said when they first came in most of the staff bought them and are made up with them.
I also noticed they had reduced the cost of the 3 tier durabrand digital steamer to £6.00, again good quality.
The Morphy Richards Fast Bake looks near enough the same so have included that picture to give you an idea

Caverncity. Good post, how is the bread. I'd love a breadmaker. Bet your kitchen smells lovely?
How long does it take to bake a loaf? One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.0 -

just after I had posted this offer I went down stairs to the lovely smell of baked bread and the taste was just as good, its the first time ever that my two kids have actually asked for more bread after they had tasted a small piece, they said it was lovely. normally they want jam on it but butter was enough.
heres a tip, you can get olive oil from asda for 70p it has different flavours the one i got today had garlic in it, in the recipe book it had one for basic plain bread uisng sunflower oil or olive oil, i had a brain wave and used the garlic flavoured olive oil so you can imagine the taste and smell.
They also do a chili flavour olive oil, use that and add some dried chillis to the mix.
Also asda do hovis bread flour for 60p you will get about 3 loafs out of it.0 -

that's a great price OP but i got my morphy richards fastbake even cheaper, I just nabbed my mum's as she don't use it anymore lol. i'm doing a loaf now but wish i had used the timer on it cos it's 11:12pm and i have 2 son's 3 year old and a 5 month old and i'm bloody knackered lol. oh well i just hope the taste is worth it.
p.s asda's fast acting dried yeast is only 50p for 6*7g packets of which i have only used half of 1 packet lol so i might even b able 2 get 12 out of it.
also thanks for the heads up on the flour.
happy breadmaking all xxxxxx1st son born 11/02/05 2nd son born 09/01/08
thats all i'm adding to the human race so think yourselfs lucky lol0 -
I would recommend giving your local store a ring first, I rand 5 of the asdas locally and none of them stock breadmakers of any kind. Shame really as we have been after a breadmaker for a while.Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0

Remember to be careful if you're having flour and bread mixes in the house, as the mites won't take long to find it. Use a resealable bag and suck all the air out0

Can anyone tell me if these are good for making wholemeal breads like Cranks or Neils Yard, ie fairly heavy, maybe with added sunflower seeds etc ?
That's the only bread we eat, so could save a fortune making our own.
Many thanks0 -
The first post is from July last year, so hardly a grabbit0
