I bought a new oven and it wasn't until it was fitted I realised it doesn't have a fan. I last saw an oven like this when I lived at home as a kid, I didn't even know they still made fan-less ovens!
It says to only use one shelf or else it cooks unevenly, well in a family of five I can't fit dinner on one shelf! First night I put on the top and bottom heat and the pizza on the top shelf burnt while the chips on the lower shelf weren't browning
Last night I only put on the bottom heat and had to keep swapping the food trays over, before putting on the top heat also to brown the food. Is this normal? It's such a hassle!
I've tried looking online for a guide to using this type of oven but can only find pages about how much better fan ovens are - I know that!!
Does anyone still use this kind of oven? Please can you tell me how to use it. Do I put on top and bottom heat as standard, or just bottom? How do you use more than one shelf for say a roast and veggies? Please help!!

pizza and stuff that cooks quicker goes lower and stuff which needs browning or takes a little longer goes at the top.. I have a fan oven and have to turn the trays because stuff near the door cooks quickest.. no different to shelf swapping really.
I put chips in for 15-20 minutes and then pizza on a lower shelf. Even in a fan oven stuff burns if it is in too long the oven doesn't know what needs cooking most.
I use both fan and non-fan ovens and don't really notice any difference. It is just getting used to a new appliance and how it works, they are all different.. give it a little time.

Is there any way of getting an exchange? I know with distance buying you have a cooling off style period. Is it worth contacting the place you bought it from and tell them you're unhappy with the quality or question if it works properly???0

As above, stuff that needs browning to the top
So Sunday dinner, roast to the bottom and roasties to the top
I have both types of oven and it takes a while working out how to get the best results from which oven but it soon becomes second nature. It's learning that things will take longer and a higher temp that sometimes still catches me unawares. If things like chips are cooked through but still pasty or soggy I just flip the grill switch on to finish them quick0 -

Did you buy it on the internet? If so if the description is wrong then you could reject it as not as described However you have had it wired in and used it so not sure if that will still apply
If you went into a showroom and bought it there I doubt there is any comeback as you would have been expected to have made an informed choice0
