Giving notice & Holidays

Hi,

Got a second interview for a job that im really attracted to.

My second interview is on Monday 30th and hopefully i might have a job offer within a week. I need to give one months notice at my present job but i have a holiday book for two weeks comencing on the 13/08.


How will it work?

Can i still take holidays whilst working my notice?

Any help would be great.

You should be able to take holidays while you are working your notice. But it may affect your last month's pay in the following way.

When does your holiday year run to and from? Depending on when it starts, you will have accrued holiday for the current year (and you may have carried some over from last year). For example, if your leave entitlement is 24 days, you will accrue 2 days each month: so if your leave year starts in April you will have accrued 8 days by the end of July. Obviously if you go on 10 days' hol before the end of July you would effectively 'owe' your employers 2 days. If you left at the end of July they would most probably deduct 2 days' pay from your final pay packet. On the other hand, if your leave year started on 1st Jan you would have accrued 14 days by the end of Jul, so if you hadn't taken any other hol, and took the (imaginary example) 2 weeks in Jul, THEY would owe YOU 4 days' holiday pay, which would be paid in your final salary OR they could force you to take all your accrued holiday in your notice period.
