Yes I've eaten figs raw and remember putting them in a salad with feta cheese. I've not eaten them in a little while but I'm sure you can eat the skin.0 -

The answer re skin is it depends.
Nice fresh clean fruit with thin skin, you can eat the bottom two thirds of more (the stem end is thicker).
Manky skin but still fresh fruit - skin it first. Quarter and just run a knife between the flesh and the skin from the stem end.
You can "roast", barbeque or eat raw as you wish. Lovely with decent jambon cru or with a salty cheese. Cheapest option would be feta.
Add some salad leaves if you have them and toss in a light vinegrette.
You got a real bargain (jealous) and two is the max I would eat at one time.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

just washed, quartered and shared with DS. And he who doesn't eat "seedy" things (strawberries/rasps/tomatoes) love them.

If you see any more YS packs, or get fig bargains anywhere -sometimes Turkish supermarkets have them at low cost - buy them in large quantity and make fig jam. You don't even need to add sugar, just cook them until they are all mushy and caramelised, as they have loads of natural sugar in them.
The jam is lovely on toast, in yogurt and as an accompaniment to cheeses or salted meats.
And in case anyone is interested, it keeps one "regular".Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Unless the fruit is damaged/going off you can eat everything except for the stalk0

Just wanted to say thankyou for starting the thread. I love figgy things but wasn't sure how to eat them. When I was doing my weekly shop tonight figs were 20p each in lidl so I bought 5. I have had one tonight and it was very nice.0
