What wild fruits do you use?

and what do you do with them?

Well, mine are wild but in my garden ;)
I'm making sloe gin this year.

There are some buckthorn berries and a few elderberries I'll freeze just now but revive in a Chistmas liqueur.

I have plans to make a crab apple jelly, maybe with mint or with chilli but they need to redden a bit more on the tree.

Your turn now :) what do you have nearby and what do you make?

  • Crab apple jelly from.the fruits on our crab apple tree - use just like any jam, absolutely gorgeous. Foraged blackberries used in crumbles and pies, or even used to make a blackberry vinegar. Elderberries used in elderberry syrup - a shot glassful a day to boost your immune system and fight colds.

  • Bit late to this one but so far I have used unripe quince we found on a walk in a chutney made with our own tomatoes, I have my eye on a couple of bushes full of ripe rosehips to make a syrup and I live in an area full of rowan trees so will grab some berries and make a rowan berry and crab apple jam.......well, if I find enough time to go grab everything!

Then there are the normal blackberry picking sessions for pies and elderberries to make pies and syrups. My elderflower cordial went a bit wonky this year so wasted a few litres of it due to the bottles not sealing properly and it growing some fine looking blue fluff!
Thanks to advice from people here I am debt free - thank you to you all! Now working on the mortgage!
