  • Yes you can. Step Change will take your payment and then divide it up amongst your creditors and pay them all on your behalf usually on the 25th of the month. If you get hassled by your creditors just tell them you are with Step Change and to contact them.

  • Because i havent sent credit card statements can they still get to my accounts with the account number ive gave them
  • SC will contact all the creditors on your behalf within about 48 hours of receiving all your completed paperwork.

We also sent a letter to each of our creditors to explain we are entering a DMP and that we are committed to paying our debts - you don't have to do this but we felt we wanted to write personallu to our creditors to explain.

SC will then send you out a letter explaining that the DMP has been set up with your agreed monthly repayment and a breakdown of how much they will be paying each creditor from the monthly amount you pay to them.

We have so far had a lovely letter from MBNA saying they are freezing all interest and charges. We have not heard from any other creditios however it has been almost 2 weeks since SC informed our creditors and we haven't heard anything to say that anyone has a problem with it.

I suggest you have a read throught the DMP mutual support thread - loads of amazing people on there at various stages of their DMP who will guide and advise as necessary. I couldn't have done it without their help.

Good luck and I can assure you that although we are only a few weeks ahead of you with our DMP journey we already feel so much more in control and less stressed :)
