Evening everyone!
The other day I won some money at bingo so I bought myself a soup maker. Its super handy for DH and I as we are out of the house for 12 hours a day and this is really useful for a quick dinner. 20 mins and its all cooked and blended!
Anyway, I bought lots of veg and chopped and washed it all and put it in the freezer so I can just take out bag to defrost and make my soup. I was feeling very proud of myself until someone at work said that you shouldn't freeze raw veg!
Just wondered if anyone knows if this is true? I've got a freezer full of it and I'll be devastated if I cant use it!

Of course you can freeze raw veg. I can not think what your friend was thinking but I can assure you they are mistaken.
Have a google for blanching vegetables for more re-assurance. Or 100's of books on the subject.0 -
thanks very much! She said I couldn't freeze them without blanching first and if just chucked mine in the freezer so I was a bit worried!
Thank you!0 -
I know I said blanching but it is not necessary. Lots of people on here say they do not faff about
I certainly do not. I have an allotment so freeze veg often. Fruit as well for that matter.
The only thing is you have to cook them for as long as you would cook fresh veg. My carrots at the weekend were crunchy, lets say0 -
When Mr Birds Eye freezes his peas they say to be in peak condition they're frozen straight from the field.
If it's good enough for him then it's good enough for me.
Most of the time i'll buy ready frozen veg but often get big bags with yellow stickers to freeze myself.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

I always freeze raw, the only calamity I had was white cabbage that started to go orange :eek:2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
