holidays close to home

Options
i live in Cornwall & have been applying for the Cornwall holidays, i have 2 young children & havnt really travelled (like a lot of Cornish ;P don't get offended its a joke! im originally from redruth if that makes you feel better..) id love for me and my OH to go away for a couple of nights even if its a stay in the same town!

do you think when im entering they see a local postcode/address & discard it?

why would they want someone who already lives here staying? surely they'd rather someone on holiday who may return in future, to help with tourism?
i would love to go abroad and entering some in the hope that next year we can, but i dont have a passport and we are going to struggle saving for spending money. ive always wanted to travel but never had the opportunities.

I'd not expect that they really take that much notice of the winners location.

Why break the draw rules for such a detail.
The aim of the draw will be to give publicity to the location & it does that by simply accepting entries.

    Just my view of course.

I wonder the same thing too as I live in London.

Many of the London comps I enter because I want to win the top price theatre ticket or spa/meal etc rather than a stay in a hotel.
  • I enter for local ones too - even though my kids have all left home I still like the idea of being away , I also enter these for on night stays unlike the ones in London
proud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl
  • Same here. I only enter the ones for Oxford, even though I live 45 minutes away, and work there. I've never stayed in a posh hotel in Oxford, it would make a lovely change instead of queuing up for the S5 bus at 6 o' clock! Plus I would have more money to spend as I wouldn't have to pay travel costs (apart from the bus.)

My daughter won an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast at a posh hotel about ten miles away. She enjoyed it very much. Especially not having to cook and wash up.
  • I won a break in a town 20 miles from me and enjoyed it.

I don't enter load of competitions so I was really lucky last year to win three long weekend breaks Scotland wales and lake district, I don't really think it matters about your postcode I think its just the luck of the draw, I have probably enter more this year and not won any but I will keep trying as we love visiting all parts of the UK.
Good luck and keep trying x
