It was definately an Intel Atom. I'm pretty much certain the link I posted above shows the specs.

    Hi

    A tricky one this...

    http://getchrome.eu/download.php

There are versions of Chrome out there, indeed you could feasibly download the source and compile yourself.

In truth the easier option would perhaps be to install a VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads) within Win8 and try out the
types of Chrome OS others have already done the work on.

Equally if there are particular filetypes that you want to open then perhaps ask again about those EG: *.odt .tar.gz

There were two releases of the Intel version. One with the nVidia Ion GPU.
Let me know when you are at home. We can run a check and install the latest firmware to the machine if necessary, in order to bring it up to spec.

I ran Chromium in VMware Player a while back. TBH it was underwhelming and incredibly slow. I was told the OEMs who sell Chromebooks make their own builds with optimised drivers for the h/w, so the generic Chromium doesn't use any GPU feature etc.

Thanks. I've found the original order confimation which gives a product code if that helps. Otherwise I guess it's Speccy or similar which I can't do til end of next week at the earliest.

Product Code Description Qty Price Ex VAT

    M19G3UK Lenovo IdeaPad S12 Notebook Intel Atom (N270) 1.6G...

Only snag with that is I see the same productcode appears to have been used for an N280 version???
