Hi,
I have Windows 8.1 on my laptop but would install Google's Chrome OS as a 2nd OS. Where can I download Chrome OS from?
Thanks

As such, you cannot:Where can I download Google Chrome OS?
Google Chrome OS is not a conventional operating system that you can download or buy on a disc and install. As a consumer, the way you will get Google Chrome OS is by buying a Chromebook that has Google Chrome OS installed by the OEM. Google Chrome OS is being developed to run on new machines that are specially optimized for increased security and performance. We are working with manufacturers to develop reference hardware for Google Chrome OS.
Chromebooks are available for sale now! Check out the Google Chromebook site for more information.
Where can I download Chromium OS?
If you are the kind of developer who likes to build an open source operating system from scratch, you can follow the developer instructions to check out Chromium OS, build it and experiment with it. A number of sites have also posted pre-built binaries of Chromium OS. However, these downloads are not verified by Google, therefore please ensure you trust the site you are downloading these from.0 -

Install Google Chrome and launch it in Windows 8 mode. Pretty much the same thing*
*Before anyone says, yes I know there are many differences, but in terms of user experience and interface, not a massive amountSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. There were a couple of projects running that built Chrome OS installs from the source which I think is public domain as it is essentially just Linux. I tried to install one of them on a netbook but couldn't get it to work propery. I then put Linux Mint on instead which did work but eventually put it back to XP which it is still running now despite withdrawal of MS support.
If you are interested and have some technical ability it's worth checking to see if anybody is still producing builds and giving it a try - don't expect a lot though as even if it works Chrome OS is very basic.0 -

Lenovo S12. Don't recall any sub model and I'm not at home so can't check. It has an Atom processor but I don't recall exactly which one. I rarely use it at all these days but may put it to use for some odd task one day.

I remember upgrading it from 1 to 2GB ram.0 -

There are two main versions. Intel (Atom) or Via (Nano) version.
Let me know when you get home.0
