Ha. Brilliant. But, what would my cover be if this happened? Surely I could get a new one easily if this happens, obviously build quality manufacturing issue.0 -
Presumably its covered by the sale of goods act. Keep this in mind when you hit the road.
I'm sure Bromptons are good, but http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brompton-Folding-Bike-Toolkit-/281433851880?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=KDW0BaQNstJG7ABdX2IdYYzxt6A%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Indeed.
Er, so the Brompton needs a little toolkit to fold and unfold?0 -

Had a closer look.. its just a bunch of spanners and allen key things. So an overpriced rip off basically.0 -
One thing I would add re theft risk of Bromptons - because you can so easily take them with you, you shouldn't need to leave it out "at risk". Check with restaurants / cinemas etc in advance to see if you can take it in (and choose another business if you cannot). Always shocks me to see a Brompton left chained to a bollard where it could so easily be lifted off.0

Haha a bollard?
Yeah tbf you're right, most of the time where possible I wouldn't have it locked up outside where its easily, or more easily, stolen. But still the issue for me is pretty much the cost, dont have that kind of dosh to pay up front. And wont get any on finance.
I'm currently watching a lot of foldable bikes on ebay, including bromptons.. so I may yet pick up a pre-owned bargain. But will also be checking with local bike shops for pre-owned cheaper bromptons etc.0 -
Any quality foldables will be quickly nicked with bolt cutters, the Bromptons, Dahons etc and pricey ones of that ilk. They tend to be the most usable because they re light. I ve been riding folders on my job for the last 10 years and one week alone I had 2 nicked, ( rough area of South Yorks ) . I would recommend the old sturmey archer 3 speed Raleigh Stoway type folders from the 70 s as they re cheap as chips on ebay, or better still local ad mags,Circa £35 ish. I ended my constant thieving of my bikes by buying an ebay GPS tracker ( at the time 5 year ago £65 but now no more than £35 ) hidden in an old eveready rear light I ve just gone along to the house of the kid who d just nicked it and reclaimed it within half an hour. These trackers will track to a couple of metres, enough to get the bike back. No point in contacting Police unless theres trouble reclaiming your thieved bike. The Police are nt interested whatsoever in things like that which hurt their crime figures
I ll be putting 2 x Di Blasi quality folders on Ebay this week with buyitnows at around £90 each. They fold (in one sweeping motion ) to a really compact size but they are rather heavy, anyone interested can pm me for a lower price0 -
A lot of talk about Bromptons convinced me, so I'm currently in bidding wars on eBay yo try and win one locally for a bit cheaper than £900 odd. wish me luck.0
