Hi, anyone know much about car tyres, particularly the "W" marking, which stands for weight I think?? Anyway I have an Audi A4 diesel with tyre sizes 225/50 R17. The tyres that were on the car also had this marking "W98" which revers to maybe the load on the wheels or something, not sure. Anyway, I priced tyres round the place and eventually bought Pirelli's. Size is ok ie 225/50 R17 but instead of the "W" being W98 it is W94. Is this important? I specifically told the supplier W98 but didnt notice until today that they were W94. Just had them fitted yesterday. Any comments?
I started out with nothing......And still have most of it left:p

W94 means wheels will fall off if you go over 94mph.
Tyres you got will be grand0 -
In summary, the tyres you got are good for 2680kg and 168mph.
The original were good for 3000kg and 168mph.
Car weighs at most 1600kg , so you can carry up to about 1300kg (1.3 tons) in total, and the top speed wouldn't be anywhere near 168.0 -
ok thanks folks for the answers. Got up to 167mph the other day so just about okI started out with nothing......And still have most of it left:p0

Aren't insurance companies strict about this, especially the load and speed rating ie must be same as originally specced?0
