Reassessment Query

Good Morning all,

Just a quick query if I may.
My husband has 2 children but it is further complicated by the fact that one is calculated under the "old" system and one under the "new" system.
Anyway we have a child due at the end of the year. We were under the impression (and I'm sure were told previously) that any "significant" changes would result in a total reassessment which would make life less complicated as everything would be under the "new" system and I think that's better as the already not up to much computer system seems to be completely incapable of dealing with and old and new case.
However when my husband rang up to tell them about the new arrival they said they wouldn't do a reassessment and just reduce the monthly amound by (15% I think).
Is this right or did we just get them on a bad day?

Thanks.

It's not possible for one NRP to have a case under the old system and one under the new system with the CSA!

If the original case was calculated on old system, when the new case came in on new system, the old case would have been converted to new system. He would have been assessed for both children (20% of net income) under new rules, and the amount split equally between both children.

When you're new child is born, it will be reassessed to take 15% off his net income to take into account this child, then 20% of the remainder to be split between the other two children.

Thanks N71. I think I see what you're saying, so they moved "old" over but I think he has to pay some sort of "run down". It has been going on for 4 years and his monthly amount has never changed (they keep saying he's paying off arrears even though he's had letters saying he hasn't got any)!! Child 1 get far more than Child 2 and obviously my fear is that when our baby arrives they'll be another excuse for why the situation never seems to change.
Does that mean that when new baby arrives he should INSIST on the -15% and then 20% off the remainder?

It looks like he is being phased into the new system with the 2 cases. You will get a new assessment but it will reduce the net income by 15% and then if phasing is still an issue then it may reduce slightly.
