Slow cooker

Hi

I am looking to buy a slow cooker to accommodate a family of 4. Can anyone advise what are the minimum requirements I should be looking for in terms of size, controls, settings etc and are there any bargains out there at the moment.

Thanks
Val :)

Argos Cookworks 6.5l does everything we require and still only £19.99.

This model is available in different brands, Aldi sometimes sell it under a different name, but prices are quite similar. You can also pay much more for the same one!

Removable bowl is a bonus, especially for cleaning.
  • I have this Morphy Richards £30 one: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9061600.htm which I recommend as it makes enough for 4-5 people and has 3 settings - high, low and medium (some cheaper ones only have 2 settings). It's also good as you can take the pan out and use it on the stove if you want to brown meat prior to slow cooking (essential with sausages IMO as otherwise they are too soft/slimy). The aluminium's good for clumsy people like me - I broke my first slow cooker's pan while washing up (like most slow cookers, it was ceramic).

I've got the Cookworks one from Argos and got no complaints, it was money well spent ........
....... Can you smell the chicken that's in it at the moment ?

  • One this week in Aldi for £12! I haven't seen it in store but it looks pretty good on the website.
