London Underground - Cheaper commute with 16-25 Railcard?

Hi does anyone have any experience using a 16-25 Railcard with their Oyster card. Currently I've been buying weekly oyster card renews for between zone 1-2 so I can commute to and from work.
I read I can use my 16-25 Railcard to get cheaper travel on underground, does this not count during peak hours? What if I got an automatic top up oyster card that was setup with 16-25 railcard, would it charge me full price during peak hours when I scan through the barriers?
What exactly are the peak hours? I'm usually on my tube(s) to work between 8-9. Then on way home its between 5:30-6:30 in the evening.
Anyone with any experience, and advice on cheapest way of doing this commute if that's possible? (Considering the railcard)
Thanks in advance :T

www.tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/fares?intcmp=1648
Expand the section: National Railcards and Gold Cards
Generally, Peak fares apply Monday to Friday (not on public holidays) from 06:30 to 09:30 and 16:00 to 19:00.
Looks like you will always be travelling at peak times so the railcard will not help.0 -

Thanks.
Should I do top ups, or buy weekly/monthly pass?
I use the tube twice a day five weekdays a week. How can I tell which is cheaper?0 -
You need too do the sums.Thanks.

All the fares are on the TfL website.
Here's a start for you:
A zone 1-2 seven day travelcard is £31.40.
Ten peak singles are 10 x £2.80 = £28.00.
If that's all the travel you do, then PAYG is cheaper.0 -

Fantastic work there! Thanks!
On the whole currently I basically only use it for work commute yes. If I ever used it out of that, assuming I set up the railcard on it, then it would be once or twice with the third off, but most weeks I would have a slight saving which is interesting.
I'm planning on trying to start a bike commute to save me that dosh completely but this helps for now so thank you.0
