bankruptcy advice due to job cutting hours from 26 a week to 11!!

my job as a teacher/lecturer on 23-26 hours a week has just been reduced to 11 hours. my perm contract is 11 hours and the 12-15 hours a week extra x 36 weeks were hourly paid, since day 1 at the college.
They have reduced due to my undiagnosed illness and basically ahve said there is no sign of it increasing in the future.
i cannot afford to pay my 7k loan, 4-5k creditcard almost 2k overdraft and other mounting bills. these were taken out when i was on my 25k a year, now will be on 11 if that after tax, ni and teachers pension
i have struggled for over 18mths to try and meet payments but with no definate increase of hours in the future this has left me stressed out and financially in a mess.
as my job isnt set days but hourly here and there i am finding it difficult to get additional part time work that will fit in with the teaching hours. plus as i dont drive its awkward to look further affield for work.
i have also got 3-6k debts in my birth name (as changed by deed poll due to personal family conflict.) this has also increased the stress relating to my debts finding me and also any family members. THEY CANNOT FIND ME!
i have no issues declaring debts or my previous name to the judge but am scared at having it published, however i want to refrain from my previous name being known as little as possible.
the stress of trying to make ends meet for over 18mths has also affected my health. I am now considering bankruptcy not as an easy way out but as the best solution to relieve stress, improve my health and enable me a fresh start where i will no longer be able to acrue debt or have credit that i cannot afford to pay.
please advise what stepts to take. as i feel I am drowning again!
(plus you are all so nice helpful and friendly on here!

Hiya Chester,
Welcome to the forum.
The first place to start is to seek professional advice from one of the FREE debt charities. Try Consumer Credit Counselling Service, Payplan, National Debtline or Citizens Advice Bureau. Their websites are...........
http://www.cccs.co.uk/
http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/
http://www.payplan.com/
http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/
They will be able to give you advice as to whether bankruptcy is the best course of action for you to take, you will also need to have received this advice when petitioning your bankruptcy (the judge will ask about it).
As for your dilema about people finding out, all bankruptcies are published in The London Gazette and a paper local to the person. It is possible however to ask the judge to request the OR to not place the local ad if you can prove that it will cause you harm. Please remember though that these are generally very small ads and not many people even notice them.
Anything else you can think of please do not hesitate to ask.BSC Member 59 - AD 29th March 2008

There are several Trusts that can help you with the fees for bankruptcy in exceptional cases. However, applications will normally only be considered if they are completed with the help of a money advisor experienced in bankruptcy for example
As suggested Get an appointment to see a 'money advisor' at your local 'Citizens Advice' office.
Call the Consumer Credit Counselling Service. Tel: 0800 138 1111 http://www.cccs.co.uk/
National Debtline. Tel: 0808 808 4000 http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/
Payplan.Tel: 0800 917 7823 http://www.payplan.com/
All the above numbers/websites are totally FREE they DO NOT charge for any advice & assistance given.
If you have any questions about the process of going BR, it's implications, pitfalls etc then feel free to start your own thread on the board.
Useful info can also be found on: http://bankruptcysupportersclub.co.uk which is a site run by a recent member here.
Some of the funds are mentioned are below, but an exhaustive list can be found here. Although i'd try and contact as many as you can for greater chance of assistance as some of the trust funds now due to the increase in people filing for bankrupcy are refusing to offer help with payment of bankrupcy costs.

hi all
thanks for the links
work confirmed yesterday that no chance of an increase until next summer
so BR is the only option.
Starting online and filling out forms online - cant get reduction in fee if only on £11k before tax.
i cant get second job as my teaching hours are over 4/5 days and college is far from anywhere that pays very much.
so screwed!
any advice welcomed!!0
