We are just about to hold first rounds of interviews for a job. The last time we needed more staff we took a mixture of both Job seekers and unemployed. Our local job center is very good and is always asking if we need more staff which we tend not too as our staff come and become part of the furniture ( with very few exceptions ) From 10 Job seekers we had arranged to interview only 3 turned up. ??? So just as we can not tar every job seeker with the same brush we can not tar every job seeker advisor.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0

I genuinely hope that you find something and I am sure you will. The fact that you have been somewhere for so long shows so much. Work ethic, discipline, etc ,you really can not let this blip and I really do hope it is a blip for you get you down.
So sorry but you can not allow it to knock your confidence I know that that is easier said than done but please keep your positive attitude and do not give up there will be something just around the corner any minute now. Just keep applying and you will get it.
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement, very much appreciated. Best regards.:)0 -
How much are JC advisors paid? I am always interested in how these people stay in the job and don't just leave on to bigger and better things. It must be depressing to see unemployed people everywhere you turn. I remember one woman i used to see when I went; she was really nice and churpy, i couldn't understand why she was like that when all the others were miserable.0

Very little actualy.
And no idea why they are called advisors as they are unable/unqualified to advice re any jobs above NMW and requiring skills/experience they themselves do not understand/comprehend.
The whole idea of how JC funcion here is really laughable.0 -
the staff at the jobcente have no interest in helping people all they are interested in is tripping people up so they can sanction people

Agree. As for calling themselves job centre plus more like minus.:footie:0 -
even if they wanted to they could not possibly help as they have no experience of higher level/pay jobs and frankly the few I came across seemed simply tottaly incompetent of anything else apart from making sure you signed on the card and "next pls"
i was off work for a bit, coming from a 43k per year salary and having worked for many years prior to that - they had absolutely no idea what to tell me/advise me (not that I needed advise but still, someone else may have)
not understanding what my field of expertise was, trying to point me towards job which they felt were in my field (not even close), even suggesting I apply for KFC as "you worked there 20 years ago"....
good thing for the 6 months i did not have to apply for "anything" and only for jobs in my field/within my salary expectations - otherwise the situation would push me into deep depression as no doubt so many people are being pushed
JC should be only staffed with people who have a vast job/business experience themselves, from various sectors and levels - not a bunch of random people who have no idea/experience of the real world0
