Money saving/making evening classes

Hi
Not sure if this is the right place to pose this question. Moderators feel free to move to a more appropriate spot.
I will soon be getting the prospectus for evening classes in our area. I am considering which (if any) classes I should take.
I have seen a thread on the old style board where somebody asked if she should get a sewing machine, bread maker or a food dehydrator. The overwhelming vote was for the sewing machine as it would be the most practical item with kids clothes, soft furnishings etc.
Now I can see this might be a money saving and possibly money making idea.
The class I would like to take is basic car maintenance but this is not offered in my area. Possibly because cars are way too complicated now.
What class would you take and can you say why it would be a money saving or money making class (for you)?
Many thanks in advance
LR

I'd go with a dressmaking class. I used to do loads when I had a sewing machine (must put one on my wishlist) and it's a great way of saving money and good for alterations if you like charity shops. I'd probably go for tailoring or pattern cutting, but if you're new to it, try the basics first. You'll get hooked. What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160

I've always fancied doing a soft furnishings course, a relative did a C&G and the stuff she has made would cost a fortune to buy, she also quickly got asked to make things for people so you probably could earn a little extra if you wanted too.0

Thanks for posting this - I have always wanted to do a soft furnishings class.
I was quoted £700 plus material costs a few years ago by someone making loose covers from their home for a 3 seater sofa and an armchair. I ended up just throwing an old sheet over the sofa but I would love to be able to make my own covers.
I am going to look into it today!:happylove0 -
I have been doing a g&G in floristry and have made quite a bit of money out of doing bouquets etc and I am even doing a wedding next year. Good luck with what you choose.£23366/ £39206.92 DFD Nov 20160

I've always fancied learning to weld. A couple of years ago my old car failed it's MOT as it needed welding - I was charged a couple of hundred to weld a 2 inch square plate onto one of the suspension turrets.
I'm sure I could have done that myself at a fraction of the cost if I knew how.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW Nerd #4910
