Barclays AiP Credit Check?

I heard that too many credit checks can harmful before taking out a mortgage.
I already have an AiP from one bank and I was wondering if I ask for an AiP from Barclays would that leave a credit check on my credit file? Anyone who had any recent experience with Barclays?

I thought I would see which bank would offer me more. I am still thinking whether it is worth getting a second AiP, that is why I was wondering if there are any drawbacks (besides the time required to do so)0
