Three year proof of address

Hi all,
I'm currently in the middle of a mortgage application, but have encountered a problem.
My wife and I have been living at our current address since 2011, but neither of us changed our details with our banks etc to reflect this as both sets of parents live very close to us and we only saw the rental as a very temporary measure.
The only utility bills sent to our current address are the BT phone bill and TV Licence - both of which are in my name. My wife has nothing to prove she has lived here since we moved in - her parents live less than a mile away.
Neither of us is on the electoral roll for this address.
To cut a long story short, I have applied for a mortgage but it can only go ahead if my wife can provide the underwriter with proof of address, even though I'm the one getting the loan and not her.
We've contacted BT to get both our names on the bill in the hope that copies of previous bills would contain both our names, but they say this is not possible.
We're at the end of our tether at the moment. Has anyone any suggestions as to what we can do???

Her name is on the application, but since she isn't in permament employment the bank is lending to me only, not a joint mortgage as such. I really don't know what to do.0

So you are both getting the mortgage.
Will they accept a letter from your letting agent?
If not, find a new lender. No point flogging a dead horse.
Although my suggestion would be to speak to a broker, this might not be straight forward to place and if you go in making applications at another address (the parents) it might flag up as potential fraud.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. ACG,
Would you recommend that I make an individual application (without my wife) if I have to change lender?0 -
I wouldnt recommend anything without knowing more info but there are not many lenders who will accept an application in your sole name. Most would require a joint application.
This is one for a broker I think.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thanks. I'll see what the broker has to say.0

It would still come down to the right choice in lender.Have your wife change the address on her bank account then get a statement from them.
Accord for instance (who I avoid like the plague) would make a meal of this and still want letters from the address registered if she is not on the voters roll there.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
