New 3DS is it worth importing one

I love the 3DS but it is a problem holding it still or you lose the 3D.

The new one sounds like it has fixed this and it sounds very powerful.

It is released in Japan in a few weeks, no word on release in the rest of the world yet, some are saying 2015 as Nintendo usually take a long time.

Is it worth pre ordering one and importing it?

It's region locked - so in short, no.

I dont mind this, I love import gaming. All the best nintendo games come out in Japan first way ahead of the rest of the world.

anyway you can chip it in the future to make it regoin free.

I thought they announced it would be region free? Must have been something else they were talking about - my friend was translating half of it.

I'd wait for the UK release, no point in importing something that will be more of a hassle.

depends how long the wait is for the UK, I could have it in a few weeks by importing, or 2015 waiting for uk release.

ninty always lock it, I knew it would be. So you have to get a jap one if you want to play new games when they first come out and dont want to wait.

I have now preordered one, I will get it soon after the Oct 11 release date. Be interesting to see those new graphics, its way more powerful.

They haven't always locked them - it's a relatively "new" development from Nintendo's handhelds and not a particularly welcome one! Then again I'm also the guy who's really miffed that Sony have region locked PS4 after being spoiled with PS3's ability to play foreign games! (Why on earth I can easily get NBA, NFL & NHL games but can't get MLB the show is beyond me!)

I thought the PS4 had the same region-locking as the PS3? Disc games region-free (one exception on PS3), DLC locked to the region of the game, BR movies region-locked?

So if you get a US version of MLB The Show, it will play fine, but you'll have to buy DLC using a US PSN account? ...No? /o\

Erm...

MLB The Show is on the European store.

PS4 isn't region locked.
