An allotment is great news - have you checked to see if there is anything still growing there that might give you some bonus veg. I have heard of other people taking over plots and discovering potatoes and carrots and stuff that have self seeded...
Really pleased to hear how well you are doing x0 -
Busy Mee- will check to see what we have lurking there.. I know we had raspberries, no idea if we can keep it there though.
So picked up a few more reduced items for pennies, and will update the first post with them.
Menu plan:
Thursday: Egg, chips & beans.
Friday: Spaghetti bake
Saturday: Had dinner at my brothers
Sunday: Peppered grill steak, herby buttered new potatoes with grated carrot & sweet corn salad
I'm still unsure on what to do for this week, I have had so many ideas on here & also got sent a lovely recipe book (emailed) So too much choice!!0 -
Have seen a girl called Jack book or followed her blog she has some amazing recipes

Yes, I have heard of A girl called Jack.. I will go & look at her website.
So went to the supermarket today and bought yet more reduced food for v. cheap.
Celery, sliced mushrooms, peaches, celery, tomatoes croissants, scones, flat wraps, ready to eat lattices (lunch box) Packs of grapes & apple slices with a wedge of cheese (lunch box again)
I have been a few times now & always come out with a bag or 2 of nice food for pennies. However am starting to worry. I gave myself around £10 a week, in order to be able to pay my fees to stop court at the end of the month.
I have spent just over £20 this week & really shouldn't do any more as I HAVE to have this money come October.0 -
Am also going to start putting my Menu on the first post. From this week will do lunches too.
I wish I had put up the costings on food I buy as well0 -
de lurking to say Hi and you are making loads of headway so dont worry too much, the information available here is a lot to process and it takes a while to get a handle on everything.....
I would just say to yourself you wont go to the supermarket again til friday and see how that goes?
Not sure if anyone has mentioned the love food hate waste site yet and I dont want to add to the info overload but I like the site because you can stick in the ingredients you need to use up and it brings up recipe ideas.....I know though so much reading and so little timeEvery Penny's a prisoner :T0 -

Hi Red Cola
You need to stop going into the supermarket if you do not have money.
Even if what you are buying is cheap it is not a bargain if you cannot save the money needed to stop court action.
So:
1. No more supermarket visits this week; it all has to come out of the stores. No one will die if you do this.
2. Take the money that you can spend between now and when the £700 has to paid, split it into weekly amounts. Then put the cash into separate envelopes for each week. If you underspend one week, you can add the extra to the next week's money.
3. Get and cards for either of you and put them in a bowl of water and freeze. You have to live with cash until this is sorted. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
A bit of tough love from RAS but sound advice. Supermarkets are evil places designed to make us part with our money and should be avoided at all costs when we are hard up !
I hope you don't mind me asking but have you taken any advice on your debt situation from the CAB - just want to make sure that you have had some good advice.
You are doing brilliantly well - you have really got on top on things in the space of a week so sending you another virtual hug : )0
