How do keywords work

Hi Guys,
I am trying my hand at building a web site, but I am struggling with keywords.
I bought my blog for £10 and now need a domain name for my travel blog.
When I bought my blog I was also sent a list of keywords.
Do i use all or some of these keywords in my blog, or if not, what are they for?
Does my blog need any of these keywords in it's domain name?

have a read of googles own seo guide, it will cover the basics for you on how to rank in google, and it's free.

Not sure what you mean when you say that you "bought a blog" and was sent a list of keywords, but still need to buy a domain name?
Who did you buy this stuff from?
There are 2 schools of thought about domain names. Some say include your main keyword in the domain name. Others prefer branded domain names and keep keywords for blog posts. I prefer the second option since Google is no longer dumb enough to rank your site just because you have a keyword in your domain name. Google ranks content, not domain names.
You keyword needs to go:
1. Title of post
2. First Paragraph of post
3. Maybe 1-2 other places in the post if it fits naturally
[4. I like to add it at the end too, but others don't bother]
If you are using wordpress, I like to include the keyword in the meta title and meta description boxes for the individual post. The meta tag box is not necessary.
If you check out the official GoogleWebmaster YouTube Channel, you can find some advice from the horse's mouth - search the channel for keyword density and Matt Cutts will confirm that they get the hint about your post's subject matter after a few mentions and going overboard can be punished as spam.
Hope this helps.0 -
The keyword is really a word or perhaps a number of words that have great significance or importance. When composing for the internet, these key phrases have two primary functions: to demonstrate your customers and also the internet search engine crawlers whatever you as well as your business are regarding. Keywords will certainly typically become your business features, or essential products which you provide. They are going to come in your own website’s content material, within the off-page meta data, within the titles as well as page explanations, and perhaps during the website name. A great way to think about for those who have selected the right key phrases is to consider carefully what your clients would kind into Google when they wished to find a person. Your key phrases should match your own customers’ queries.0
