Car insurance renew-ell time, quite pleased, despite the wife doing her own version of demolition derby on some poor souls car in a Tesco car park I've manged to get a quote from Admiral of £246, only up a bit from last years insurance of £231. Will be buying this for the wife on pay day!
Prior to my money saving ways I always bought car insurance monthly, however I now pay the cheaper annual fee off in one go.
Cars are a constant drain on pennies but a necessary evil for us as we live in a remote location. I've also paid out for new disc pads this month. Next month the luxurious Fabia needs new wishbone arm bushes (no idea what those I but I need them). Could also do with another 3 tyres before the grim weather sets in. They are at least both paid for. I would love a new car but couldn't face the monthly payments. Thing is, once the new car smell has gone the monthly payments continue. Cars are a huge depreciating asset. I'd rather keep the pennies for another holiday put the money into my kids savings, or maybe a bike. Cars run on fuel and make you fat, Bikes run on fat and save you money. I will accept that its not easy to do the weekly shop on a bike though, enough ramblings today

Lots of over overtime worked this month (5 shifts), to get this monkey off my back as quick as possible, or as Dave Ramsey would say, you've got to to 'clear up your mess'.
I also got a call back from Admiral insurance and got a good deal using their multi car option. Last year car 1 was £240 and car 2 was £255 with 2 separate companies, total £485. Admiral for both cars £367, and that includes the wife's little bump back in Feb. A saving of £118. Don't normally have many positives to say about insurance but that deal is not too shabby.
Sisters wedding this weekend in London. Honestly you'd of thought she would have waited until I was debt free. Its going to cost. Bought her a John lewis voucher for £100. The wedding will cost me 2 nights in a hotel at £105 a night, together with fuel and sundries I think it will cost £500 all in for our family of 4, so that's what I've budgeted for. Hopefully the overtime will soak this up. Life is like this. It goes on regardless of your money saving ethos. It cares not if you've no money to repair a car or the washing machine packs up. All you can do is roll with the punches, soak it up and then get back on your feet and carry on charging.
