bad old boyfriend

my daughter has been turned down for a mortgage recently due to bad depts run up by her x(not married joint account etc). because the relationship she was in turned sour and he kicked her out and changed the locks then stopped payment as blackmail for two months forcing her to sign over the house to him. anyway all depts clear now but how can she clear her name the only credit statement she has is her car + shes living with me and not got her name on any bills for the past seven months. so the question is how to clear her name and get a mortgage.

  • maybe she should apply to look at her credit reports and then write to them explaining the circumstances?

When I applied for my first morgage (a few years ago mind) I wrote to credit agent I think, and they wrote back saying it was my brothers debt not mine.

When I applied for the morgage i advised the morgage company that my brother was blacklisted and when they approved the loan they did say that it had come up on the checks

Is there any way for her to do something like this:confused:

Sorry was a few years ago and cannot remember who I wrote to

her situation is not very clear

are you saying she had joint loans, accounts mortgage with her ex and were defaulted or what?

get copies of her credit reports (from all thre agencies) and see precisely what they say.

Get her to obtain a copy of her credit reference reports and he is no doubt associated with her. She can ask for him to be removed from her file.

It will also highlight areas where she may have other issues, such as not being on the electoral role, etc.

Here is a link detailing all the agencies.

In addition, Martin has a document here that might be worth reading through also.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D
