Hi everyone,
FreePostcodeLottery.com have asked us to post on their behalf. MSE does not endorse anything posted for a company.
Hi. It's Chris from FreePostcodeLottery.com here. Regarding having to login to see the winning postcode. The reason I did this was because people who were not using their reminders to check the site were not being automatically logged in. These people were appearing inactive so they were eventually being marked as dormant (The Data Protection Act requires me to unsubscribe and eventually remove inactive users). I've always liked having the postcode appear at the top regardless of whether the user is signed in because it helps demonstrate the concept to new visitors, but the risk of accidentally deleting a user who was still active (though not logged in) outweighed this. So, by forcing active users to login I can properly differentiate them from the inactive users.
Regarding the unique identifier being added to the URL. I was playing with some new reporting software that records how my URLs are pasted and shared on the internet. In order to do this it adds the unique identifier at the end. This does not identify you, but the link itself. I've realised that this is confusing (not to mention ugly) so I've got rid of it.
Regarding choosing only inactive postcodes as winners. I don't blame you for coming up with conspiracy theries - and this is a good one - but it just isn't true. You can see loads of comments from past winners in the Facebook section of this page http://freepostcodelottery.com/winners-club and (if you were so inclined) you could match them up with the wins that are reported on this page http://freepostcodelottery.com/history. Also, there are loads of posts and comments from people all over the internet who have won. Just Google "Free Postcode Lottery Win". In fact, someone from MSE has actually won before. See here: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/free-postcode-lottery
I hope that helps to address your concerns!
All the best
Chris

I only found this thread as I was wondering if anyone had one on here. I think this is the best website possible to find out information about real things. I'm only on 6p bonus but i've still got my fingers crossed.0

I won on it a year or two ago. The money was in my paypal within minutes of me claiming it."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0
