The Security Watchdog...

So I've signed my new work contract with EE (Everything Everywhere). Its a 24 hour p/w contract.

I've already had my first day, but have received and e-mail from a lady requesting the name of a recruitment agency I worked via and also bank statements for DEC 2012 and March 2013.

This is fine, I have nothing to hide, and all my date are spot on, but I'm still very nervous. I rang them and they said I'll know around the 22nd of September, it feels like I'm waiting for a call for a job offer, and I shouldn't be feeling like this.

I'm now in a predicament were I have purchased a bike already for my work commute, if they decided to fail me, I'm stuffed.

I guess there's nothing I can do but wait, but I'm really nervous and not motivated, I've started work, but feel like I don't even have a job!

Anyone got any experience for this Employment screening company?

I know Vodafone use them, and they are owned by Capita plc, so not a good recommendation:

When requesting information from you they give themselves carte blanche (via a compulsory agreement) that they can look into almost any aspect of your life. It seems like a catch-all to cover all types of employment screening right up to GCHQ level. Everything should be alright, but I'd be a bit wary, and when you've settled into your job it might be worth making enquiries as to what exactly they were looking for. This might help other people with similar concerns.

I'm very worried, this should have been done before I started, I find this ridiculous.

And there's nothing I can do to speed this up, so I'm going to be a nervous wreck at work for the next few weeks!

If you got fired from a company for gross misconduct, would they ask about that? Or are they just calling my ex employers to establish whether I actually worked there or not?
