How long did it take everyone?

Hi Everyone,

I am recently new to this website and I have been entering compeitions now for nearly two weeks. I have yet to win anything and I am just wondering how long did it everyone to win something??
Started comping in Sept 2014.
Wins so far:
IPAD mini
Witch Blemish Stick

Would love to win a holiday or an ITV competition :)... Maybe one day :rotfl:

Since then I've won 3 things ... all of which in the last week or so.

Depends what kind of comps you enter and how many, if your only entering for big stuff like TV's or holidays then it should take longer to win since there will be more entries to those comps.

I've been entering comps semi-regularly for the last 5 or 6 months and haven't won a bean yet. Having said that I only really enter for things I really want - the ITV comps, holidays, ipad and camera comps, I don't bother with the low/zero value stuff.
  • It's literally down to pot luck. some people win quick some people take months to win something. Just treat it as a hobby, enter and move on. Don't worry or overthink too much about when you will win. It'll happen eventually
  • I first came here in 2008 and spent a year enterting comps. Didn't win anything. Returned in April of this year and won within the first week or so.
April 2014: First ever win - two night break for 2 to Cornwall inc 1st class return rail travel :j

I've been doing it for just over a month and haven't won anything yet; I just think you have to have a bit of luck on your side, and patience. Which I seem not to have at the moment.. but I'm not giving up!! Best of luck getting your first win!

It's all pot luck really. I've been comping for over 2 years now and have still to win what I'd class as a "big" prize - tellies, laptops, cash etc. If those were the only comps I was entering I'd be pretty fed up by now as I'd have won nothing at all.
I usually have a slow but steady trickle of smaller wins - stuff like makeup, books, etc - which keeps my morale up! I don't expect to win anything really so anything I do get is a bonus.
Look at it this way, you could enter 1 competition and end up winning it, say £20,000 from ITV - luck of the draw. Then again you could enter 10,000 competitions and not win any of them.
I do believe you have better odds of winning when entering for small prizes though.

Took me 2 months to win my first prize - a packet of sweets! But I've had plenty of small to medium wins since then.
