Hi I am a newbie at comping, and have noticed that I have been receiving alot of emails claiming that I have been shortlisted for various prizes and have to confirm entry. This just takes me to further surveys. Should I just ignore these. I forgot to mention that the emails come from named people for example Maureen young.
I would appreciate your advice all

To answer your question I would say just watch the tick boxes & would ask if you only enter comps via threads posted on here?
I would think they are spam emails trying to confirm that your email address is live & good to spam.
I enter lots of comps & do not get many of the emails that you describe by spam is a hazard with comping & I feel it cannot be really avoided but only reduced.0 -
Further to the above the very word shortlisted shouts scam/spam to me.
If it is a genuine prize you will be the winner & not shortlisted for selection, unless they are some tests involved re effort.
I have heard of some getting emails stating they have been shortlisted to win an ipad if they conform their email addy.Just pure spam.

I had a few of these when I first started ... I think they came from MyOffers, So I would maybe avoid using that site.0

MY Offers is strangely absent from those pages :-)0 -
Yeah, I gave up on that site after a few days after I kept getting those stupid emails. I've heard people do win from there, but it's not worth the hassle.0
