I was planning on buying Destiny for my Xbox one when it comes out and was just wondering where is the cheapest place to buy it. i thought the download straight from Xbox would be cheap but its still £50.

Depends if your going to trade it in at one point. Try the usual sites like game, shop to, simply games.0

You can buy the pre-order from the Hong Kong marketplace for around £30. Just a case of changing the region to HK, rebooting and purchasing with a credit card. I picked up both Metro 2033 games for the same price as one of them. I did get a call from my credit card company querying the transaction but I confirmed it was genuine. Once you are done buying you can change the region back and it will happily download.0

Caveat emptor, the Hong Kong store version of the game may stop working after a few weeks or months.
Someone from another forum replying after someone else mentioned this happening in the past and Microsoft accounts getting banned from x box live....
Just contacted Microsoft regarding downloading from the HK store. You can't be banned for downloading from it but a couple of months down the line the game may just act like you don't own it or don't have the disc. Before the Xbox one was launched we were told it wasn't region specific but it actually is due to different international laws and customs. Some content may not be suitable in some countries so it ties your IP address to the region and looks for the same info from the digital copy. If it sees a mismatch its rejects the game.
People buying copies of ebay have had similar issues and when investigated the region was the issue. Its all down to geo-fencing laws apparently.[/quote]0 -
The Xbox Live bans were due to people downloading shouldn't-have-been-free-for-them games via an unsupported region (wasn't it Bosnia?), therefore “using false or deceptive information to create an account for the sole purpose of accessing content you would otherwise have to pay for” - as covered in the terms and conditions.
Paying for content from a supported region is a different kettle of fish. Given how much I travel, I've found I need accounts in every country I'll use an Xbox - not so much since they recently added the ability to migrate accounts, but I'm still left with accounts with local points/currency on them that doesn't transfer and therefore needs to be spent on the native region. It's legitimate. On 360, it's rarely an issue - very few items on the Marketplace are locked (beyond the original region-locks of games on Games on Demand that match their disc counterparts).People buying copies of ebay have had similar issues and when investigated the region was the issue. A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.

A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
Two words ensure "cheap" will be a subjective thing on Destiny - those two words "Bungie" and "Activision", would surprise me to see this a penny under £50 for next gen.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

Tesco direct are doing the game for £45 but if you have a Tesco clubcard and vouchers to use, you can use Clubcard Boost to get it cheaper. Basically your vouchers are worth double their value, i.e. a £10 voucher becomes £20. Used my vouchers to pre-order this game for my Son.0

I've not heard of this issue of games working at first and then not working after a few weeks or months - do you have any further information (or preferably links)?

My original quote was from here

Those two thoroughly investigative works of journalism use the same sources and quotes, though, without any direct confirmation from Microsoft either way. And error 0x87de07d1 is a known error that is unrelated to the region - it's simply a license verification glitch. It should be fixed now, as it was referenced as being fixed in an Xbox One update earlier this year (after those astonishing articles).
Oh, yes, your articles got a quote from Microsoft confirming that it's a region-lock, right? "All Xbox digital content is region specific. Due to many international and cultural laws, not all content is available everywhere." - this is perfectly true. If you go to the Xbox store in China, for example, Just Dance 3 is not available, but it's available in most other countries. This isn't region-locking - it's region availability. If you buy Just Dance 3 from the Hong Kong store, you can then download and play it in China (for example).
That's the reason your 'out-of-region Xbox One games stop working after a couple of weeks' news wasn't covered by a single reputable news outlet, and hasn't been referenced again since those embarrassing articles six months ago. It's not true. It was a generic error due to a license check issue, which should be fixed now - if not, apparently a power cycle fixes it.
How is "Have you tried turning it off and on again" still unknown to some people? It could have prevented a small amount of FUD in this case.
