The Sims 4 has been released for the PC today.
At £38 from Tesco and Asda (although out of stock there) it's not cheap but have you found it cheaper?
If you've bought it, is it worth it?

Edit: Cheapest found so far from Amazon at £35.97 with free delivery.

I'd suggest in future that you start "best price hunts" before the day of release, as a lot of pre-order deals finish when the game is actually out, but it's also too soon for any price drops, usually making Day One the absolute highest price a game will ever be.
Luckily, it's still £30 at GMG using voucher code 1EUYMC-XPDZG8-KOF6WX, with QuidCo or TCB dropping the price a bit further.
I say "luckily", but really, wait for a price drop. It's not exactly setting the critical world aflame, it seems.
Edit: there's a good summary here about the features missing from Sims 4. Apparently Sims 3 is still the way to go if you want to play a Sims game.Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
I bought it yesterday for £25.99 (digital key code delivery, not physical copy) on SimplyCDKeys (.com); it's now £26.99.
I've been on it all morning and to be honest, I don't care about any missing features. The game feels so much better, the interactions, the moods, the aspirations are all so much more detailed. I am really enjoying it so far and I have barely touched it.0 -
Not able to buy it as I use a Mac
really annoyed that they have only brought it out on PC
After reading about what features are missing from it compared to Sims3 I won't be rushing to buy it when it is released on Mac eitherFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
I haven't played it since the first game but I never really got into it, I could never seem to correctly juggle the different needs of the sims and it ended up being irritating.

No, because it's an EA game, and they'll never sort themselves out for all their missteps (see Bullfrog, Sim city last year, their mobile practises such as dungeon keeper, their customer service, the shoddy state of Origin.... I could go on) if you keep buying their games brand new and rewarding them for being an awful company with your money. It doesn't exactly give them a reason to stop being terrible, does it?0

I bought it from Amazon for £33 with free release day delivery. I'm enjoying it very much. Not had anywhere near the number of performance issues, crash to desktops etc that I've had with Sims 3. Good game that will only be enhanced with the many expansions I am certain will follow.0

Hello everyone, I have been a massive fan of The Sims ever since the first game. I have been playing TS3 the past few weeks, and couldn't wait to purchase the fourth one. I had to wait until pay day to buy it, so I ended up paying £39.00 from Tesco.
I am by no means an avid gamer - in fact The Sims is probably the only game I ever really play. My opinion is that the game is not worth buying at all.
The graphics are much better, and creating your Sims has many new features with a wider choice of hairstyles, outfits and body shapes. There is no longer a toddler stage, and another feature missing is swimming pools. I have not seen any cars either.
When your Sim goes to the community lots (there is about 4/5 to pick from and that's it) - you can not browse the town like in TS3 - it actually goes to a loading screen just like the early Sims games. I have found it a bit glitchy and there are minor bugs.
I was really excited for the new career paths - however they have decided to get rid of some of the older ones which means there is a limited choice.
One good thing about TS4 is your Sim has moods such as 'Focused' or 'Happy' and this encourages them to do more things. I have found that the needs of the Sims seem to go down much quicker than in other Sims which makes it hard to keep their hunger, bladder, hygiene, fun and social in the green.
I really am a big fan of The Sims but this is just like The original Sims in HD. Some of my friends really love it, I just can not get on with it. It is a good game for those with little or no experience of the previous ones.
I'm sure it will improve when expansion packs are released, but I am going to be selling my copy as I am very unimpressed. Hope this helps.CC1: £1000 £826
