I received an email from "Sew Magazine" at lunch time. I am not a crafty person so would never subscribe nor would I enter any comps for crafts/sewing/knitting.

So, I go to unsubscribe and am absolutely horrified at how many ticks there were for different magazine related subscriptions, there were 56 subscriptions. :mad:

Not only that the email is addressed to Deborah (which is not my name and nothing like my name) and when I click the unsubscribe link it takes me to a page where my email address is shown along with Deborah's phone number and her RM5 post code (I am AB post code).

Just wondered if anyone else received this email today.

I guess the fact that you got no answers here means that nobody else did get this mail - I certainly didn't and I DO enter quite a few of the sewing/knitting/crafty comps! Anyway - you managed to unsubscribe did you?

Well I hopefully have unsubscribed and I have also fired off an email to the editor and deputy editor last night but as yet no reply.

I enter Sew comps all the time and am on their mailing list, but didn't get that either. Seems decidedly dodgy...

Glad you managed to unsubscribe. Just remember that you the editor and their sub probably won't control the IT. chances are if you saw a list of so many mags, the publishers will be the ones controlling the mailing list, so that may be why you've had no response yet. Don't shoot the messengers and all that....

I got the e-mail - it is from Aceville so when you click on unsubscribe it lists many of their titles which include Cook Vegetarian, Great British Food, Grow Your Own etc so e-mail could have been generated by any of a number of competitions (these would be likely source of mine rather than the crafting type titles).


I am not worried by it, although mine did link to my name, phone number and post code which was not the case for the OP

I had to fill in an awful lot of those unsubscribe forms from Aceville. And they won't stop sending the emails to me either. Now they go straight to Spam. I would never enter a competition from Aceville ever again ... nor Bauer for that matter. However, I have won £425 from My Offers, and I don't think I have never received much, if any, junk from them (I enter carefully, mind you).

Never had dealings with Aceville but Bauer is a lot to miss out on, over 30 radio stations, 50 plus magazines including TAB, TV choice, That's Life, etc along with 7 TV channels and the click to wins.
I have had wins from Bauer and apart from the odd e-mail everything has been connected to the prizes won.
