John Greed bargain .... or not?

This weeks email had a bargain from John Greed - pearl necklace/earrings down from £80 to £14.50.

I tend to have a level of trust in MSE that they provide us with good deals, however I always check the info elsewhere. Trustpilot has 30% negative reviews from consumers of John Greed. MSE - are you assuring us 100% this is a good company to be dealing with .... ?

Really hope it's good, just ordered one set. I'll let you all know when it arrives. But for £14 delivered a pretty good deal.

My good lady has bought a good few Pandora items over the last few years from John Greed, they are fine to deal with (and she has bitten their hand off for this one!) :D

I have been buying from John Greed for years, they are a great company to deal with, I even bought my wedding rings from them and the one I ordered that was too big I returned and was refunded very quickly, the quality of their own brand products is excellent - I have ordered gifts for my children from there which have lasted very well. I have ordered 2 of this set one for MIL and one for my best friend

  • Well its good to hear everyone has had a good experience. I do find their company name somewhat offputting though ......
  • I had to laugh - I do wonder if Smeeagain works for a competitor of John Greed?

    why ?
it is a perfectly sensible reaction if you read some of the reviews on trust pilot. ( Though people do tend to post when something goes wrong , and not when things are perfect - so results tend to get skewed to the negative )

This Norwich car dealer has been around for 50 years, the name hasn't hurt him. ;)

No I can assure you that I do not work for any jewellery or related business nor am I in any way commercially connected to or related to anyone who does.
I just do my homework whenever I see an offer - wherever the offer comes from and whatever business it relates to. I agree with the other comment that reviews can be skewed by moaners but some companies on Trust Pilot have very high scores (and who knows maybe their positive reviews are written by employees), I was merely bringing to the attention of the forum group that they didn't have great reviews. That kind of info is just as important as telling someone where they can get a good deal.

My point is that just because MSE says a good deal is available doesn't necessarily mean they can or will vouch for the quality and as consumers we still have to be aware of what we're getting into and we should still exercise caution, that's all.
And as it happens they've issued an update saying all the pearl sets are gone !
  • I ordered this on the Thursday it became available and it dropped through my letterbox two days later. I'm very pleased with all three items although with my fat wrists the bracelet is a tight squeeze. I always think that if they're quality earrings you're unaware that you're wearing them, especially drop ones - these are obviously quality!!. I will defo be keeping any eye on John Greed jewellery in the future. Thankyou MSE

  • I've bought several things from them over the years and always had really good service.
