Fees gripe...

Am I being dumb here...

I was getting a remortgage from Halifax which was classed as 'no fee', so I thought there was 'no fee'. However, when completing paperwork there was a fee of £295, when I questioned this it was something called a 'mortgage accounting fee'. Now to me no fee means no fee. They said it is for admin costs or something like that when closing the product down at the end of the term.

Is this standard. I can't help feeling cheated as I expected no additional fee!

Any thoughts...

    Yes, completely standard.

You might have had a no fees remortgage, but that was no fees for transferring the mortgage to the Halifax. It's not 'no fees will be charged ever during the term of the mortgage'!

I just found it confusing when it said no fees and then there were fees! Silly me eh! hehe...
