Then again, it might be normal in the sector in which the organisation operates.
If your salaried it doesn't really make any difference tbh. Who cares if your contract is for 37.5 with unpaid lunch or 42.5 with paid lunch...
When I've had hourly paid jobs with paid lunch that's always basically been an acceptance that you'll be too busy to have a proper lunch break although I guess it beats working over lunch but not getting paid for it!Sealed Pot Challenge #239

Typically I've experienced a start time between 8-9am, usually an hour for lunch (unpaid), finish time of 5.30-6pm.0

I work compressed hours 8.30 to 18.30 over 4 days.
50 minutes lunch and two 15 minutes break.
Lunch unpaid and breaks paid.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
8.30-5.30 with an hour unpaid for lunch so 40 hour working week but in reality 45 hours as we are in the middle of nowhere so nothing to do at lunchtime (it would take 20 minutes to walk to the site exit!)0

I have a pretty laidback job, 8.30-4.30 or 4 with an hour unpaid and as many breaks as you need during the day (unpaid) as long as we're not really busy. I'm a typist and pretty much spend all day hammering the keyboard.
My husband works shifts, 8-5, 9-6 etc, with one half an hour unpaid and two 15 minute breaks unpaid.0 -
I work for myself so 60 + hours a week. But my staff work 37.5 15 mins paid break in morning 1/2 hour paid for lunch and then another 15 mins paid in the afternoon.
Not sure if it is normal but it really right to us.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
I work from home so my hours are flexible. I work 36 hours a week. I usually start at 8 and finish at 3:45 with a 30 minute "break" some time during the day where I take the dogs out for a quick run. Technically my daily working hours are 7 hours and 12 minutes per day.0

Contractually full time is normally somewhere between 35 to 40 hours.
I've noticed that for perm roles in london there is increasingly a slightly later than 9am start time - 9.15 or 9.30 being most common and correspondingly a post 5pm finish.
In practice irrespective of my contractual weekly hours I've always ended up doing roughly 9-6 with a 15 minute break to grab lunch to eat at my desk when working with UK based projects. When dealing with other countries timezones then things get complicated0
